Oxford: July 8 -27, 2009. Oxford is one of the oldest and most celebrated university towns in Europe, and among the most significant in historical and architectural importance. The “city of dreaming spires” has been home to Oxford University for almost 1000 years and is characterized by the unique collection of towers, domes and pinnacles rising impressively from the University’s colleges above the skyline. Here, diverse figures in English literature like Sir Walter Raleigh, Thomas Hobbes, Adam Smith, Shelley, Cecil Rhodes, T.S. Eliot and J.R.R. Tolkien lived and learned.

For 19 nights, students will reside at St. Edward’s School, one of England’s pre-eminent boarding schools located minutes from Oxford’s city center. The school boasts world-class facilities including: modern accommodations, sports complex, 90 acres of sports fields, computer labs, library, theatre, bright classrooms, basketball courts, tennis courts, and access to an indoor pool. Important sites such as Christ Church College, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera are all easily accessible by foot, as are Oxford’s many parks and the Cherwell River.
